DC Universe Online 2011 PC Game Review

There is very little to enjoy the latest big bet Sony Online market for massive multiplayer games, and for now it appears that the PC and PS3 users will enjoy a fantastic and exciting game featuring heroes and villains within the DC universe.
We waited longer than desired and suffered endless delays that postponed the launch of the latest big project for Sony Online: DC Universe Online. Now, with the game in beta testing and a few weeks of its release on the PlayStation 3 and PC, we were able to thoroughly test that offers this frantic action role-playing game in which we can become heroes and villains, while accompany the great icons of the publisher of comics creator of Superman, Batman, Lex Luthor and Two-Face and others.
Hero or Villain
DC Universe Online is, as we say, a massively multiplayer action game online with slight elements of gender roles, which are to be linked mainly to the creation of a virtual warrior. And this is one of the most attractive parts of the game, mainly due to the great freedom of customization that offers both aesthetically and in terms of the style of game we want to develop. Thus, if we talk about the appearance, we have so many options that will be difficult to find a player like us, because we can change from the type of skin to the color-and do not talk about four kinds of different color and point-, clothing, accessories, posing, musculature, etc.

With regard to the skills of our avatar, first of all we choose to play as a hero or villain, and then choose who will be our mentor in the game. This figure, which can be Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman by the heroes, or Lex Luthor, Joker and Circe the side of the villains, will determine the kind of fighter base that it embodies, but once this decision will be taken to specialize your character with a number of options.
The level of customization that can be achieved with the characters is very high, especially with the large number of items to collect.
Logically, after jumping to the battlefield, we can improve the skills of the warrior with each level rise, returning to meet a level acceptable option. Not for nothing, we skill points to improve our management with selected weapon at the beginning or special move, and other special skills for the warrior. So while our character is based on a healer, we can spend skill points to boost their offensive issues, creating intermediate classes very relevant to our game alone (the SVP).
Meeting the super villains or heroes of DC requires the cooperation of several players from different archetypes. Go crazy often end in failure.
Open Warfare
Metropolis and Gotham City are the two major battlefields on which develops most of the action, but you can also visit the Watchtower of the heroes in space or the Hall of Doom of the villains. In these areas we will find many characters from DC to entrust us a lot of missions, but most consist of out enemies at close range and collect certain objects and can be somewhat repetitive in the long run (the beta only gives access to level 20 , the maximum of 30 to be). It should be noted also that such missions can be resolved without too many problems alone, but always welcome collaboration with other players.
What we liked, apart from the constant frenzy that wastes the game are the various instances that we see in the development of action to complete the missions, as a final stage. So, come a point where after walking thwart Bane, for example, we will measure ourselves against this super villain in his lair, enjoying truly spectacular action sequences with heroes who will not hesitate to support us. But the most fun of DC Universe Online starts when we get to level 10, when you activate the Call Alerts. These act as multi-player dungeons, and have started to require the participation of several users at once given the large number of enemies can come together and, above all, the bosses that await.
This type of mission we take in addition to the usual environments, transporting us to places like Area 51 or Arkham Assylum, which is much appreciated. But more importantly, as we say, is that such missions and raids in collaboration with others is essential, so we have to have several tanks to receive the most damage, while supporting the other healers Players who inflict damage on enemies. In this sense, the game does not differ to that seen in other references to gender, although the view and the combination of so many different skills creates a really fun.
DC Universe Online uses the Unreal Engine 3, making a striking visual results in this MMO.
Of course, this interaction gives the game a fairly high level of spectacle, especially when joining multiple characters of different kind and start fighting like crazy. It is important to stress again the importance of action in the game, because it does not let up at any time. Not surprisingly, during the scuffles we can move without problems, pick up and fly away if we can to attack from the sky, covering up to receive less damage when opponents use their special attacks or, as we said, look for objects with which to attack enemies. In the end, not be left to a turn-based fighting game, but the action is so constant that it seems quite the opposite.
As regards monitoring, handling keyboard and mouse is the most comfortable and intuitive, betting on a combo system similar to Age of Conan. Thus, while special skills are framed in the classic action bar that will comply with the numeric keypad own special attacks we execute our weapon combining the two mouse buttons and arrow keys. Another way to ensure that fighting does not lead to the break. The same is true with PlayStation 3 version in which the control system is also more than acceptable, although we still have to go deeper in this regard.
I have seen so far in DC Universe Online has seemed really good, and is relieved to see how after all this time, the new work for Sony Online appear likely to meet expectations. It is true that it is a game that may not fill all audiences, mainly because more than the exploration and adventure in their experience, focuses on the struggle. So to be seen whether the long run does not become boring, but the combat zones and cooperative gameplay itself PvP (player vs. player) suggest the opposite.
And this is a last point we do not want to ignore. Play on PvP servers implies that in the course of a mission, users from the rival unexpectedly assail us with astonishing ease, thus providing great excitement to every game. We all share the same cities, so there are very few areas where we can say “OK, here I am safe,” and this is something that we love. So we go counting the days until you arrive on January 20, at which point DC Universe Online will go on sale.
